Cookie policy
This page describes cookies and other storage technologies used by ciakapp.com. The site measures how it is used anonymously and without cookies; measurement cookies are enabled only if you consent. We use no advertising-profiling cookies and share no data with third parties for advertising.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Technologies such as localStorage can keep information on your device in a similar way. The law distinguishes technical tools needed to provide a requested feature from those used for analytics, profiling or advertising.
Technical tools (no consent required)
When you submit the beta form, we save the key “ciak.waitlist” in your browser's localStorage with the email address you entered. Its only purpose is to remember on your device that you already completed the form. It is a first-party tool, isn't read by third parties and remains until you clear this site's browser data. Separately, the Pages Function sends your email, language, form location, and signup date and time to the server-side Cloudflare D1 database: D1 does not place cookies or other identifiers in your browser. This processing is described in the Privacy policy.
Your choice on the cookie banner is stored in localStorage under the key “ciak-consent” and expires after six months, after which we ask again. It is not a profiling cookie: it only remembers your decision.
Cloudflare hosts and distributes the site through Cloudflare Pages and its CDN. It may create temporary technical logs such as IP address, date, requested page and outcome and use tools strictly necessary for network security. These activities are not used for advertising profiling and are described in the Privacy policy.
Anonymous measurement (no cookies, no consent)
Before you choose in the banner and after “Reject”, we use PostHog in cookieless mode. We measure page views and interactions with links, buttons, the demo and beta form, but PostHog writes no cookies, localStorage or sessionStorage to your device and does not retain an identifier across separate visits. Your email address and anything typed into fields are excluded; session recording is disabled.
Events travel through the first-party proxy at e.ciakapp.com, operated on Cloudflare, to PostHog's European instance. Network data, including the IP address, may be processed while the request is transmitted and protected, but we do not use it to recognise you persistently in cookieless mode. PostHog acts as our data processor. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in aggregate statistics and improving the site.
We honour your browser's privacy signals: if you have Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control (GPC) enabled, we measure nothing. You can also object to this anonymous measurement by emailing hello@ciakapp.com.
Measurement cookies (only with “Accept cookies”)
With “Accept cookies” we enable a PostHog cookie whose name starts with “ph_” and ends with “_posthog”, plus localStorage entries prefixed “ph_”. They contain a browser identifier, session identifiers and technical configuration and let us distinguish visits and returns. Their maximum duration is 12 months. This persistence is not enabled without consent.
On your first visit you see “Accept cookies” and “Reject”, given equal weight. “Reject” does not enable persistence and keeps only the cookieless measurement described above. The choice is stored under “ciak-consent” for six months. You can reopen the banner through “Manage cookies” in the footer; switching to “Reject” stops persistence and removes PostHog identifiers from your device.
How to remove local data
You can use “Manage cookies” in the footer or remove “ciak.waitlist”, “ciak-consent”, the PostHog cookie and the “ph_” entries by clearing ciakapp.com data in your browser settings. This does not withdraw your beta registration: to remove your address from the list, use the link in the email or contact hello@ciakapp.com.
